Rainbow Lorikeet – Tail Biting

For now I’m sorry to confess we have a small tradition of covering Seagrave releases at least a couple months after they debut, though that seems less inopportune than usual with a cassette called Tail Biting, Italian producer Nicolò Tescari’s first Rainbow Lorikeet release since his wonderful Mind’s Far Continent CD-R on Debacle in 2013. While Mind’s Far Continent is introspective and exploratory, Tail Biting virtually struts through its rugged bass and synth-punk techno — and with an even more pronounced kosmische/library flair than on his Debacle releases. That flair better than ever draws out all the implied contradictions and associations of a post-industrial project with a name and influences like Rainbow Lorikeet, whether the image you settle on is an over-stressed parrot that can’t stop pulling its own feathers or the rainbow glimmer of color in spilled oil.
