Plastic Response Records Halloween Mixtape Giveaway

South Carolina-based label Plastic Response recently gave birth to a beautiful monster of a Halloween mixtape. Nestled in a custom treat bag and accompanied by a slew of goodies (including some amazing buttons and spooky erasers), the cassette’s art and layout recalls everyone’s favorite childhood nightmare-inducer, Scary Stories to Tell In the Dark. The tape features tracks from tons of great bands, including Boys Age, Emotional, Sam Gas Can, and Sadwich, to name a few, and meanders nicely between creepy intros and samples, freaky atmospheric jaunts, and kitschy Halloween nostalgia. One of my favorite treats is “Monster Hash” by Totally You; the classic novelty song “Monster Mash” sounds like it’s been popped on a stick, dipped in cough syrup, and rolled in fresh THC. Another stand-out is Love Cop’s “Bloody Honey”, which gets stuck in my head like candy in molars.

Want to win a copy of the mixtape? Send an email to [email protected] with the subject line “Halloween Mixtape” and you’ll be entered in our giveaway! Entries must be submitted by 8PM (EST) Sunday, October 26th and the winner’s treat bag will be shipped out first thing Monday. In the meantime, check out some tracks from the mix below and head over to Plastic Response if you’d like to go ahead and treat yourself to a copy.
