Premiere: Some Pulp – “Oh Oh (Who’s Cryin’ Now)”

Minneapolis-based duo Some Pulp (Graham Barton and Dane Hoppe) have honed a distinct brand of garage rock that combines bubblegum doowop and surf-inspired riffs with a touch of 70s glam. The first single off their self-titled debut, “Oh Oh (Who’s Cryin’ Now)” brings to mind the sweet and sour aspects of high school relationships, with Barton crooning “I will say you deserve it / I will say I told you so” and Hoppe singing backing vocals that would make any bobbysoxer swoon; grungy guitar and articulate drums carry us through a handful of crybaby choruses before the short ditty is over and begging to be played again. Some Pulp will be out on cassette (and digitally) via Forged Artifacts May 6th, but you can pre-order your copy of the tape starting today, and check out the single below.
