$3.33 – ‘Just a Dip, No Why’

Just A Dip, No Why is the first physical release and sixth album by LA-based sonic architect Celia Hollander, and it’s filled with an unpredictable 30 minutes of electroacoustic improv and free jazz. Hollander commands an ensemble of musicians playing acoustic instruments, transforming them into amorphous, unconstrained particles of sound. The drums splatter haphazardly, and clarinets and cellos snake up from the ground. There are also clouds of fluttering vocals, as well as slowed-down R&B and chopped up Latin pop (maybe?). It’s ethereal, playful, and awe-inspiring all at once.

Just a Dip, No Why is available directly from Dzang Recs.
